    Christ our example

May the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ be poured out unto all His creation...

It is easier for us to love when all is going well. But when we encounter opposition things begin to change within in us and around us. It becomes harder for us to love, almost impossible.

This makes it most important to develop a spiritual maturity which can counter attack this sort of problem.

When we go through rough patches it is easy to slip away in our thoughts and actions that is if we have not obtained a high level of spiritual maturity.

Our thoughts can easily slip away into covetousness because we see ourselves and then we see someone else’s life and think back to ourselves, why can’t I have a life like theirs?

The word of God exhorts us thoroughly about this as Paul writes to the Ephesians in Chapter Five, Paul exhorts us to walk in love, Verse 2 of Chapter 5 Ephesians “And walk in love as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling aroma.”

Christ is our example in all things right here we see what we have to remember next time we feel self pity coming on and act before we wonder into thoughts of covetousness for someone else’s position.

Jesus Himself as He walked on earth and was the manifestation of the Word becoming flesh (John 1:14) had to face the same battles as we face but He knew how to deal with these attacks. As Jesus prayed in the garden He said, “Father if it is Your will take this cup away from Me, nevertheless not My will, but Yours be done.(Luke 22:42). He knew that the only way that he could overcome the situation that was in front of Him, was to hand it all over to the Father and to acknowledge that it was not up to His will but the Fathers.

See many times we fail to acknowledge that our lives as Christians are all about living a life surrendered to Him, that includes that we surrender evrything into His perfect will even those sticky situations that we wish we could run away from, which make us feel burdened, hard-pressed, disempowered and sometimes completely useless all this makes it difficult to walk in love, but we have a perfect example in Christ Jesus just as He had the courage and love to give His life for us, so that we may be forgiven and reconciled through Him to the Father by the spilling of His blood, which also served to pour out the Spirit among us that we may have the power and unction to live as Christ did and love as He loved us.

So let us pray that we may stand firm not resisting the Holy Spirit of God by resisting to love and lest we fall into covetousness, because if we cannot love we will covet and covetousness will not have an inheritance in the kingdom of God (1 Cor 6:10).
